EPISODE DESCRIPTION
A presentation of The PAPER STREET Podcast, 'LATE TO THE PARTY' is a recurring program that brings filmmakers, friends, and entertainment industry pros on to discuss one of their major movie blind spots. The guest chats with hosts Shawn Talley and Cameron Burns before watching the film, then reconvenes with them after having seen it to all share their thoughts on the movie and much more! This go-round, composer and musician Alex Cuervo, the man behind the scores for many a Paper Street picture (SCARE PACKAGE, THE PALE DOOR), was late to the party on SCREAM... and no, this not a repeat. Cuervo was a indeed guest on a previous episode to discuss the original 1996 film, and it went so well, we talked him into doing back-to-back-to-back minisodes for the next three movies in the franchise! This is a unique installment, and an instance where we will suggest that you do listen to the episode with Alex's initial appearance *before* jumping into this one (you'll even hear us hatch the idea for this experiment at the end of it!). One of the biggest horror franchises of all time, SCREAM launched two sequels in quick succession, and a "legacy sequel" a decade after that. And on the heels of finishing the original film, Cuervo gives his fresh thoughts on parts 2, 3, and 4, from their casts and cameos to their unique kills and killers! If you've seen the "Phase One" SCREAM sequels, check out these compiled conversations. And if you haven't, you're late to the party, but that's okay; we'll still be here when you get to it!

As a huge fan of the SCREAM franchise, I find it incredibly exciting that Alex Cuervo, a talented composer and musician, is diving into parts 2, 3, and 4 after his initial experience with the original film. His fresh perspective and insights on these sequels will be a real treat, especially since he's coming at them with the same level of enthusiasm and curiosity as someone discovering them for the first time. The idea of having back-to-back-to-back minisodes is brilliant, offering a unique deep dive into the evolution of one of the biggest horror franchises. I'm particularly interested in hearing his thoughts on the evolving casts, the creative kills, and how each film holds up within the horror genre. This promises to be a fascinating listen for both longtime fans and newcomers to the SCREAM saga.
